Whichever way you look at it, the Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet flick The holidays represents the most attractive in romcoms. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a sequel anytime soon. The director of the 2006 Christmas film, Nancy Meyer, put an end to rumors that a second film was on the horizon, 16 years after the premiere of the first. “So many DMs about this – sorry but it’s not true,” the 72-year-old director wrote via Instagram on December 6th in direct response to a screenshot of a recent report. She capped off the post with a red heart emoji.
Kate also told PERSONS Magazine that the rumors are unfounded. “I’ve read about it, but it’s the first time I’ve heard about it,” he said titanic the actress told the outlet. “I promise you no agent or representative or anyone from the first round spoke to me about this. Hand on heart, that has never happened before.”
Fans of the film starring Cameron, 50, Kate, 47, Jew law49 and JackBlackShe, 53, didn’t try to hide her disappointment. Many of the legendary director’s 244,000 followers despaired in the comments thread. Remarkably, the official Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences account responded with a series of crying emojis. Katie Couric posted a broken heart emoji and Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner frustrated emoji faces posted.
Some fans noted that they initially mistook the post for an announcement. “Ugh. Then 2.3 seconds your heart is racing,” one wrote, while another responded, “Can we sign a petition to make it happen?!” Other loyal fans admitted to being relieved. “One The sequel couldn’t top the original. The holidays is the best Christmas movie with the best score. My absolute favourite,” one wrote, while another commented, “There’s no such thing as perfection. I’m relieved, to be honest. In my mind, Iris Roodle is Deedle Dooing in Blockbuster with a bang.”
Still others suggested something else for them parent trap and Something must give Director. “Nancy…Nancy Myers the legend, how about a new movie then?” Missing you,” noted one follower.
