Blake Shelton and John legend hope to put a smile on viewers’ faces at the season finale of The voice with her hilarious parody of the 1970s sitcom The odd couple. Blake, 46, and John, 43, teamed up for their skit, the strangest couple for the season 22 finale on December 13, and cast the country crooner in the role of the super-chaotic and disorganized Oscar Madison (originally played by Jack Klugman), while John portrayed the super tidy and organized Felix Unger (originally portrayed by Tony Randall). The video, which can be seen above, began with an intentionally cheesy intro showing Blake and John living together.
The montage showed them drinking milk together — with the “God’s Country” Hitmaker drinks from the carton and John from a glass – and then John shakes his head at Blake for his antics. Another clip showed the couple laughing because they were almost wearing each other’s jackets, while another part of the video showed how the friends contrast each other: Blake chose to eat pizza with his feet up on the coffee table for dinner, while John had sushi with him ate his formal cloth napkin tucked into his shirt. The show’s intro ended with the two musicians sitting down to watch The voice.
After the show intro ended, the skit opened with Blake and the “All of Me” Singer preparing for the Christmas party they are hosting. “Everything looks perfect for our Christmas party,” smiled John as he admired the garland he’d wrapped around the front steps of the house. He then looked over at Blake and saw a small, sad looking tree with no needles, topped with a cowboy hat. “The neighbors threw it out last year, so I got it,” Blake told John of the tree’s origins. “Well, at least my side of the room looks good,” John stated.
The final scene showed John getting frustrated because Blake made a mess while cleaning. Then he went through the to-do list again and asked Blake who he had invited. Blake said he was in control, which he clearly wasn’t. “I wonder if he’ll be upset that I forgot to send out the invites,” Blake said after the father-to-be left the room.
Blake and John have team members as the top four finalists in Season 22 of The voice. John supports Omar Jose Cardonawhile Blake has Body, Bryce Leatherwoodand Braden Lape compete for the price.
