first lady Jill Biden shimmered as she arrived at the 2022 Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday, December 4th. The 71-year-old first lady looked stunning as she walked alongside her husband, the President Joe Biden, for the special ceremony in Washington DC. The couple looked excited to honor each other George Clooney, Amy Grant, Gladys Knight, Tania Leon, and U2, at the event.
The President and First Lady sat next to the Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff on a balcony, for the evening. Jill looked gorgeous in a blue sparkly dress with floral patterns all over the dress while her husband wore a black tuxedo with a bow tie. Harris wore a black dress and long matching gloves, while her husband also wore a black suit.
Joe congratulated the celebrants in one tweet before the ceremony. “Congratulations to the 2022 Kennedy Center honorees and their wonderful families,” he wrote. “Thank you for showing us the power of art. They embody the spirit of America.”
Kennedy Center Honors aside, the Bidens have had a pretty busy holiday season, and it’s only early December. The President and First Lady hosted their first state dinner with France earlier this month. Jill and Joe have both hosted the President of France Emmanuel Macron and first lady Bridget Macron for the event celebrating the United States’ long association with France. Ahead of the event, Jill spoke about how special the bond between the US and France is. “The design of it dinner was inspired by the shared colors of our flags – red, white and blue – and our shared values: freedom and democracy, equality and camaraderie,” she said.
Ahead of the Kennedy Center Honors, Jill also debuted the 2022 White House Christmas decorations in late November. She announced that the theme was “We The People” and the decorations were perfect for the season, complete with 77 trees and models of hers and Joe’s dogs and cats. “When our country comes together, we are stronger. What we share is so much greater than the things that divide us. The soul of our nation is and always has been: We The People,” she describes the topic.
