go green! Princess Kate and Prince William caused a stir at the 2022 Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston on Friday, December 2 – honoring the earth-friendly theme.

Kate, 40, stunned in a bright green off-the-shoulder dress by Solace London for the soirée at MGM Music Hall. The princess opted to rent the dress from UK platform HURR, in line with the event’s request that all guests try not to buy new outfits to attend.

Kate completed her look with an emerald and diamond choker that belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

William, 40, opted for a blue velvet blazer, which he already had in his wardrobe.

The royal couple, along with Rami Malek, Catherine O’Hara and Shailene Woodley, will present the Earthshot Awards, presented to five individuals who have taken action to combat climate change and made major contributions to protecting the environment. BBC radios Clara Ampho is the host of the evening.

William started Earthshot with David Attenborough in 2020 with the goal of finding effective ways to combat climate change. The organization’s name was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot, which kickstarted space exploration in the 1960s. The late politician’s John F. Kennedy Library Foundation is a co-host for the Boston Awards Mayor Michelle Wu.

In addition to Kate and William’s performance, Friday’s celebration will include performances from Billie Eilish, Finneas, Annie Lenox, Chloe x Hall and Ellie Goulding.

The king-to-be announced his trip to Boston in July via Twitter, sharing, “In 2022 we’ll be back bringing Earthshot to the US where we will be honoring the next five winners of the award.” In the accompanying video, William stood with the player the Boston Red Sox together Xander Bogaertswho added, “And we’re going to do it right here in Boston.”

After arriving in Massachusetts on Wednesday, November 30 for his and Kate’s first trip to the United States in eight years, William gave praise Governor Charlie Baker and his wife, First Lady Lauren Bakerfor “their warm welcome”.

“Catherine and I are delighted to be back in the United States and are very grateful to Governor Baker and the First Lady of Massachusetts,” William tweeted. “On our first overseas visit since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly Boston for the many tributes they have paid to the late Queen. She remembered her bicentennial visit in 1976 with great fondness.”

Ahead of the Earthshot Prize ceremony, Kate and William met with Mayor Wu on Wednesday and watched the Boston Celtics take on the Miami Heat later that night. On both trips, Kate was a must. She wore a plaid Burberry dress for her time at Major and a vintage Chanel jacket for the sporting event.
