Dreams really do come true. . . even if those dreams involve a head-to-toe transformation into the Jim Carrey version of the Grinch. On Sunday, pop singer Hayley Kiyoko shared photos of her stunning Grinch costume on Instagram as well as an emotional video explaining her love for the Christmas Theft character.
In the photos, Kiyoko looks Carrey’s Grinch perfectly, dancing in her costume and posing with her friend Becca Tilley, who’s dressed up as Martha May Who (who played Christine Baranski in the 2000 film How the Grinch Christmas was stolen”). The ‘For the Girls’ singer’s commitment to her costume is evident; she even hired a pro to help her create the look. Kiyoko tagged makeup artists Kelton Ching in her post, thanking him for helping her make her Grinch dreams a reality.
“HELP ME… FEEL ❤️,” she wrote. “Thank you @keltonfx for getting this done and @eddieyangofficial for making it happen 🙏🏼 a dream come true.” Tilley seemed equally impressed with the way she and Kiyoko’s costumes came together. Commenting on her friend’s post, she wrote, “I love you and I love being Martha May to your Grinch 🥹💚.”
However, becoming the Grinch for her Christmas party wasn’t just a whim for Kiyoko. At the end of her Instagram carousel, she shared a video explaining how much “the mean” means to her. “I just have to say, I grew up with the Grinch, and I really connected with him, and my dream was to date someone like Martha May. And my dream has come true,” she said.
Tilley didn’t get quite as emotional her post, but she seemed just as impressed with the transformation of her and her friend as anyone else. She captioned her post, “the the the……THE GRINCH 💚❤️.” Meanwhile, the couple’s famous friends shared their thoughts on their next-level Christmas costumes in the comments. “Awww I love you so much – BEST!!!” wrote Chrishell Stause. Leslie Grace added, “How?!!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 awesome!” Meanwhile, Taylor Dome Lautner commented, “This is TOO GOOD.”
The moral of this Christmas story is clear: Christmas wishes do come true, even if you wish to be the Grinch for a day.
