For Gwen, the experience was life changing. She started on the show in 2014 and has appeared on the show in 2017, 2019-2020 and 2022.
“I never imagined doing something like this in my life and it was one of the funnest things I’ve ever done,” she continued. “I love being a trainer, I love watching participants grow, I love making a difference, it’s super inspiring to me. And on top of that I meet my best friend here who will be mine forever.”
The singer first met his husband Blake Shelton, 46, was on the show in 2014 and a year later they went public as a couple. After years together, they married in July 2021. He will also retire after this season.
Gwen is looking forward to the final episodes, although victory is unlikely. She and first-time coach Camila cabello both still have a singer in the competition, while Blake and John legend each have three singers.
“Everyone’s so good there’s some left,” Gwen said. “It’s the first time I’ve really been like this, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Still, she praised her competitor Justin Aaron, telling ET, “His heart is so big. It’s not even just the vocals, it’s the heart he puts behind the vocals. I’m just honored to work with him.”
