Four destinations in Spain to be the first to see the snow a few hours drive from Madrid +2023

Ski lovers have already reserved their holidays in Baqueira, Formigal or Sierra Nevada to enjoy the snow at full speed. But if winter sports are not your thing and you simply want walk through snowy landscapes with your partner or familyin these places in Spain you will be the first to enjoy them.

Sierra de Guadarrama (Madrid and Segovia)

Less than an hour from Madrid we have the Sierra de Guadarrama, where the snow is guaranteed on its peaks during winter. Precious stops during these days are Cercedilla, Rascafría, El Espinar, Pedraza and other towns in Segovia, where we can make day trips to enjoy the freshly fallen snow.

Soria

This is the capital of Spain where it usually snows first during the months of December and January. We can go to the city or get lost in the beautiful villages of Soria, finding rural landscapes with fairytale snowfall patterns. Let’s not forget how easy it is to find where to eat well and cheaply in Soria.

Avila

There are many things to do and enjoy in Ávila in winter, and snow is one of them. During December and January it is very common print of the snowy walled city and the children playing with the sledges on the hill outside the walls. We can even turn it into a gourmet getaway, because there are many places to eat well and cheaply in Ávila.

Burgos

We have many plans to do in Burgos if it rains or snows, because when they start the snowfalls there are intense and cover everything in a white blanket. It doesn’t matter if we stay in the city or take advantage of the first snowfall to go to its charming corners, such as Puentedey, Las Merindades or Tobera. It is a great romantic plan, always with family or children.
