Eyeliner trick: filigree wings made easy
Keeping a steady hand when applying eyeliner is a true masterpiece. But once you have managed the narrow line on the lash line, the real challenge comes: the wing. Creating a fine tip is probably the most demanding part. Many applicators and brushes do not even allow a narrow line.
To overcome this problem, there is a simple eyeliner trick. You don’t need a special tool or product for this, because everything you need is already available to you: your fingernail! That’s right. And this is how it works:
- Apply eyeliner as usual to the outer corner of the eye.
- Let the product dry up to 80 percent.
- Place your fingernail at the outer corner of your eye and smudge outwards.
Use your lower lash line as a guide for the angle: How would this continue? Follow this imaginary line to achieve the perfect wing. If you prefer a thicker or longer tip, you can add more product to the outer corner of the eye and build up the eyeliner step by step.
Pointed Wing: These products work best
The choice of product decides on success and failure, eyeliner or accident. For beginners, our advice is to choose a thin slanted brow brush and wing with brown or black eyeshadow. For the wiping technique mentioned above, however, a gel eyeliner is best because you can move it around until it finally dries. Liquid eyeliner is less suitable, as it is less forgiving of mistakes and cannot be smudged quite as well.
