After months of feuding on social media, Britney Spears seemed to reach out to her little sister Jamie Lynn Spears in one Instagram post shared on December 2nd. Britney turned 41 on Friday, and she took the opportunity of her birthday to leave a tribute to her 31-year-old sister. In addition, she released separate tributes to her estranged sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Britney’s post included two photos of Jamie Lynn, along with a message for her sister. “It’s my B-Day but you’re my heart so I’m thinking of you… Congratulations for being so brave, inspiring and showing bravery and glory on your show 🎉!!! You’re not alone… if anyone knows how that feels. . . I get it 🤧🤧🤧 My little sister !!! I love you!!!” she captioned the photos.
The “Toxic” singer’s post left many fans confused, as Britney and Jamie Lynn have been at odds since the “Sweet Magnolias” star’s appearance “Good Morning America” on Jan. 12 to promote her memoir Things I Should Have Said. Back then, Jamie Lynn spoke out about her older sister’s guardianship, claiming that Britney once locked her in a room with a knife.
“It’s important to remember that I was a kid in that moment,” said Jamie Lynn. “I was afraid. That was an experience I had. But I was also afraid to actually say anything because I didn’t want to upset anyone or anything.”
She went on to say that she “just always loved and supported her sister” and didn’t understand why their relationship had seemingly deteriorated. Britney later claimed Jamie Lynn’s comments about the two being in the same room with a knife were wrong. “I’ve never been near you with a knife or ever thought of doing something like that!!! The only knife I’ve ever seen you at home with was slicing the largest chunks of pumpkin I’ve ever seen in my life, and that was way too big for me to cut. . . So please please stop these crazy lies for the Hollywood books!!!” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
From there, their feud continued to escalate, as the sisters wrote letters to each other and lawyers became involved in their dispute. In February, the famous siblings’ posts about each other began to slow down, but they never publicly reconciled. Jamie Lynn has not yet responded to her sister’s post. (POPSUGAR reached out to Jamie Lynn’s reps for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.)
In addition, Britney released separate tributes to her sons Sean and Jayden, both of which she shares with her ex Kevin Federline. The boys and their mother have been estranged for some time and Jayden did an interview with them itv in September explains why he chose to live with his father.
The hit star posted on Friday photos of their sons on Instagram alongside the caption: “To my two boys…I love you…I would die for you!!! God protect my precious hearts!!! I would give anything just to touch your face!!! I send my love… Mamasita.”
In addition to the tributes, Britney and her husband Sam Asghari also shared more traditional photos and videos from their birthday celebration. The “Baby One More Time” singer posted a video by her husband, who surprises her with balloons and a cake. “My husband surprised me ✨🎂🎈!!! I’m sick with the flu and he came down the stairs… he was smooth as fuck!!!! I love you 🥰😘 !!!! It’s Mr. and Mrs. Asghari 💍💍💍!!!” she wrote.
