Compensate. Rebel Wilson appears to have responded to the backlash over her new R&R Club clothing line.
After fans yelled at the 42-year-old comedian for not offering extended sizes in her loungewear line, Wilson took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, November 29 to clear the air.
“Due to its success, we plan to produce more colors and sizes for the R&R Club,” she said Pitch perfect star captioned a photo of herself in a cozy white set from the brand. In a follow-up post, Wilson explained that she’s “experimenting” with the current “limited capsule collection of just two pieces in limited sizes.” As of now, the website only shows two sweatsuits in sizes XS to XL.
Wilson then asked her followers to let her know what shades and sizes they’d like to try.
The Australian native’s reveal comes after the TikTok user destiny criticized the label in a video posted on Saturday November 26th. “The irony that Rebel launched a clothing line that she couldn’t even have shopped a few years ago,” Ann captioned the clip, referring to Wilson’s weight loss. That senior year star embarked on a fitness journey in 2020 and has since lost 80 pounds.
“I’m just learning about Rebel Wilson’s new clothing brand, R&R Club, which launched in early November,” Ann began in the video. “I’m just confused. I don’t understand someone like that [was] Plus size for most of their career and most of their life… someone who knows how hard it is to be fat to buy clothes your size… I don’t see how someone with that background, that knowledge, owns a brand can only bring it out up to XL.”
She added, “People’s biggest argument for it is always, ‘Oh, it’s so expensive to have so many size ranges.’ [but] It’s Rebel Wilson, she’s got money. It’s so discouraging.”
Ann wasn’t the only social media user who had issues with the R&R Club. Other TikTokers shared their opinion and agreed with Ann in the comments section.
“This is so disappointing,” read one comment. Another social media user wrote: “Wow. It’s absolutely pathetic.” A third said: “Even though it’s expensive, she will get the money back because larger sizes always sell out. This is disappointing.”
That Isn’t it romantic? The actress, who recently welcomed her first child via surrogate, started the line with a friend Ramona Agruma earlier this month.
