In between it’s over Janelle Brown and Kody Brown. That sister wives Stars have officially called off their spiritual marriage after nearly 30 years together and a few months of breakup rumors fueled by on-camera tensions. “I’m broken up with Janelle,” Kody confirmed in a Dec. 11 preview clip for Sister Wives: One on One. In a separate clip from her own one-on-one interview, Janelle added, “Kody and I have broken up.”
This follows reports of a split on December 9th. “Janelle is a strong, independent woman and has realized that she can make it on her own,” said a source close to the estranged couple In contact on Friday Dec 9th from Janelle’s Reason to Go. They added that she feels like she’s “outgrown him.”
Kody and Janelle, both 53 and parents of six together, have faced some cracks in their foundations during the COVID-19 pandemic when they disagreed over Kody’s strict quarantine rules and how to navigate the difficult time. In the 17th season of sister wives, their disagreements became more apparent, including Kody’s uneasiness about Janelle’s decision to rent an RV and live in it while she waits for a single-family home to be built on Kody’s Coyote Pass lot in Arizona. Additionally, Janelle and Kody got into a fight during the December 4 episode of the hit TLC series after Kody seemingly compared Janelle’s loyalty to him to that of his fourth wife. Robyn Brown.
“Some family members are unwilling to accept other family members or communicate with other family members. I have someone in my life who is fundamentally loyal to me, who sees me as the head of the family,” he told Janelle, without naming Robyn, 44.
Janelle didn’t take the comments well and thought she was being instructed to be more like Robyn. “It frustrates me beyond belief that he would perceive this one woman as so perfect, such a saint who was so kind to us and treated her so badly,” Janelle complained in a confessional. “Kody set a broken record in that regard. Robyn was bullied. I do not think so.”
In his chat with the cameras, Kody said he doesn’t need Janelle to be like Robyn. Instead, he wants her to “just be loyal.” He added: “I have 100 percent loyalty to Robyn. So, okay, yeah, I think it’s like Robyn. nope I only ask for loyalty. I ask to be the head of my household.”
As fans know, Kody was dumped by his third wife, Christine Brown, in 2021 after more than two decades of marriage. in a (n Instagram message that followed Christine’s announcement, Kody said the situation was far from ideal. “There is a lot of sadness associated with Christine’s decision to leave,” he wrote. “We spent many years together and I have great respect and admiration for her.”
Before the divorce, the marital struggles between Christine, 50, and Kody were broadcast sister wives. During a November 2021 episode of the show, Christine admitted that she “couldn’t get married to Kody anymore.” She also expressed her break-up with the Coyote Pass property and the so-called plans to build a family home. “Isn’t it obvious that we’re going to build on the property just for me?” Christine asked.
Kody now has two wives: Meri Braunwhom he married in 1990, and Robyn, with whom he tied the knot in 2010. Kody divorced Meri, 51, in 2014 so he could marry Robyn, but they’re still technically together despite years of tension in their relationship. Kody shares 18 children with his current and ex-wife.
