The new animated series from Netflix lookism has been generating a lot of buzz lately, leaving many fans desperate for more episodes.
Based on a popular webcomic of the same name, Netflix teases the show by saying, “A high school student wakes up one morning to find that he now has a pretty face and a perfect body.” The series debuted December 8 with eight episodes on the streamer.
Reviewing the series, Decider’s Brittany Vincent praised the performance of Susan Haruye Ioka, who plays the lead’s mother. She wrote, “Ioka brings a compelling warmth to the character that goes to your heart. You can feel the pain in her heart when she sees her son being bullied and hurt at school and it cuts like a knife.”
Now that viewers have combed through the short season, many are wondering if there’s more to come. Will there be a second season? When will more episodes of lookism Premiere? Read on for everything you need to know.
Will there be a season 2 of lookism?
Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t shared any plans for a second season just yet, but that’s not alarming given that the show premiered just yesterday. So far, the streamer has been regularly promoting the show on their social media platforms, which is promising.
The animation studio behind the project, Studio Mir, has a longstanding relationship with Netflix, having worked on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and DOTA: Dragonbornthe latter of which have premiered for three solid seasons.
So it doesn’t look like the streaming giant is trying to cut ties.
But on the flip side, Netflix has a rocky track record with animated programs and this year saw a big hit on the budget and staff of the department. And in October it was reported by Weekly Toyo Keizai (Per cartoon brew) that the streamer reduced anime and aimed specifically at animation studios in Japan. However, it is important to note that Studio Mir is based in Korea.
We don’t have a solid answer about that lookism Season 2 in progress, but keep checking back!
