Diamond of the Season! Princess Kate wore a rarely worn tiara for the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday December 6th.
The Duchess, 40, made her way to the event by car Prince William at Tuesday evening. Kate was photographed in a red dress by Jenny Packham that was accented with sequins and tied a yellow bow at the front of her dress. She accessorized with sparkling teardrop earrings and the lotus flower tiara, which she last wore to a state banquet with the Chinese President in 2015 Xi Jinping.
The Princess of Wales already wore the hat for the diplomatic reception in 2013. The soiree takes place every year and welcomes hundreds of members of the diplomatic corps to the state rooms of the palace.
Along with Kate and William, 40, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla arrived in style for Tuesday’s event. Camilla, 75, was spotted wearing the Belgian sapphire tiara that previously belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The reception comes after the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall visited the United States for the first time in almost 10 years. The couple, who married in 2011, arrived in Boston on Wednesday, November 30 before leaving for the Earthshot Awards ceremony on Friday, December 2.
“On our first overseas visit since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly Boston for the many tributes they have paid to the late Queen. She remembered her bicentennial visit in 1976 with great affection,” William tweeted Wednesday as he and his wife landed in New England.
At Friday’s charity gala, Kate wowed in a green off-the-shoulder dress by Solace London. She rented the piece from UK platform HURR, as the Earthshot Awards ceremony prompted guests to make the environmentally conscious choice of not buying new clothes for the occasion.
The future king, on the other hand, looked dapper in a blue velvet blazer from his own wardrobe.
During their trip, the royal couple toured Harvard University and settled in while seated courtside at a Boston Celtics game. William and Kate weren’t traveling with their three children: Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4. Despite their busy schedules, the two haven’t “ruled out” welcoming another young child.
“They are both very grateful for what they have and consider themselves extremely blessed to be raising three beautiful, healthy children,” a source said exclusively Us weekly earlier this month. “But if a fourth came along, they would welcome it with open arms.”
Before flying to Boston, Kate and William attended a state banquet at Buckingham Palace honoring the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. For the occasion on November 22, the princess wore the Lover’s Knot tiara – a favorite of the late Princess Diana – and a crystal-encrusted dress by Jenny Packham.
