Amber Riley and Jennifer Hudson treated TV viewers to one hell of a performance on Monday as the powerhouse singers teamed up for an epic “Dreamgirls” duet. Hudson invited the newly crowned “Masked Singer” winner to his talk show on December 5, and after discussing her career, the two teamed up to record the famous hit “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” singing – which they both have ties to as they performed the song while playing the role of Effie in the classic musical (Hudson in the 2006 film version and Riley in the 2016 London stage play).
Hudson and Riley made a game of their performance, hiding behind a bunch of Christmas trees while the audience guessed whose singing belonged to whom. “Tear down the mountains / Scream, yell and roar / You can say what you want / I’m not going out,” Hudson sang, while Riley belted out, “Stop all the flows / Push, hit and kill / I’ll ya.” don’t leave / There’s no way I’ll do that.”
They then reappeared on stage for their grand finale, tearing down the house with a masterful performance of the song’s final chorus. And yes, they both sang that legendary run at the end. Watch the couple’s stunning “Dreamgirls” performance above.
