As a beauty editor, we know the simplest hair styles, the quickest make-up tips and the latest trends – but we don’t always implement them in our own routines. That’s changing now! Here are our beauty resolutions for 2023.

Every year we look for new resolutions, which we then stick to for two weeks and ignore for the rest of the year. You know the game… But that doesn’t mean they’re superfluous. Sometimes we just have to do something for years in a row before we finally integrate it into our daily lives (yes, we speak from experience). If you don’t have any beauty resolutions yet, just let ours inspire you!

Used up!

Do you know the feeling when you have used up a concealer or see the pan of a powder? I love it! A feeling that I unfortunately feel far too seldom. As a beauty editor, you’re always trying out new products and trends; the former treasures quickly lose their luster. For 2023 I want to (again) plan to use up opened products – even if they don’t convince me 100%. Sometimes you just need different handles or combinations to make a product work well. I will leave no stone unturned!

New year, new nail game

Every year I resolve to style my hair more often or to learn new make-up techniques. But all projects fail because of one thing: I have no talent for it. But what I really like to do, and what I don’t find too difficult, are small nail designs for beginners. For months I have sworn by Striplac, which can be hardened under a UV lamp. In everyday life, however, it is unfortunately the case that you always have other things to do than taking care of yourself. I would like to change that next year and plan specific me-time in which I can try out new nail designs. A thin brush set, a silicone pad (called French Stamper) and glitter paint have already been ordered.

Fall into the paint bucket

Okay, the expression is perhaps a bit exaggerated for my project. But, every time I rave about the talented hands of make-up artists on Instagram and Co. I was particularly taken with the colorful looks: a sky blue in the crease of the eyelid meets a lemon yellow in the corner of the eye. I also like to try things out and wear colors; this year, for example, grass green in the waterline or a pink eyeliner … but I don’t give myself enough time and don’t try out enough new combinations. The most colorful palettes are already gathering dust in my closet. In the new year they will definitely be used more often and my resolution will also be realized: to combine different colors with each other.

Wash hair? Yes, but rarely!

As soon as my hair starts to look greasy, I jump in the shower – and that usually happens on the second day after washing my hair. It is much healthier for the hair to take longer breaks between washing. In this way they can better distribute the natural fats in the hair and care for it. So for 2023 I would like to give my hair a break from washing my hair more often. In order to be able to implement this better, I will put dry shampoo on the roots immediately after washing my hair. This prevents the hair from becoming excessively greasy.

Take a break too!

I’ve been straightening my hair regularly for many years – although I actually have strong natural waves. For the new year, I have decided to give my hair a break from the heat more often. The same goes for my lashes because I’m a huge fan of lash extensions. I regularly use an eyelash serum to keep them healthy despite the extensions applied. Nevertheless, it is important to give the natural lashes a regeneration break from time to time so that they do not suffer from the extensions in the long run. So my beauty resolution for 2023 is: Back to naturalness (at least temporarily)!
