According to Governor Dutton (Kevin Costner), the group plans to ride along Mount Chisholm, herd the cattle to Louis Creek and keep them in the meadow overnight. “If we’re lucky, we’ll get them all at once,” he said, reminding everyone that there’s no way to carry a camp, so it’s “empty stomachs and cold backs for a few days.”
The episode opens with a look back at young JD and his crew They embarked on a similar journey back then, before returning to the present, where several serious conversations — and even a fistfight (!) — unfolded at the ranch.
We’ll have to wait until Sunday to see how the ambitious trek unfolds for John, Kacey (Luke Grimes), Beth, Rip (Cole Hauser) and the rest of the crew. But until then, let’s take a look at the Paramount Network’s latest preview trailer. We’re here to break down yellowstone‘s Episode 6 preview frame by frame, but remember there will be spoilers!
What is inside yellowstone Season 5 Episode 6 Preview?
Next time on yellowstone, we’re going to have some good father-son time between John and Kayce. The preview begins with the two men on horseback and John says to Kayce, “You can sell it, son. You could bottle it and sell it.”
We see Beth and Rip ride horses through the woods and then sit down for a serious chat. “I could live here and not see anyone but you for the rest of my life,” Beth tells him. Rip stares at her and looks instantly in love.
Meanwhile, at the ranch, Summer takes Beth’s advice from Episode 5 and explores the land. She walks around Dutton Cemetery and marvels, “This family has been here for so long…” As it turns out, she’s not alone. Monica is with her, and she chimes in to explain, “When I say we’re giving this country everything… I really mean everything.”
The next few shots are dialog-free but offer a foretaste of the worrying chaos to come. We see people on horseback herding cattle, an EMT helicopter landing in a field, and John riding alone. Next thing we know he’s sitting and hugging someone with curly dark hair who appears to be crying. hmmm…
We catch a glimpse of John’s assistant Clara on horseback. And Beth rides up to John, leading him to ask, “What happened?” Beth takes off her hat, looks down at him, and the last thing we see is a shot of John’s worried face.
Where should I stop this? yellowstone Season 5 Episode 6 Preview?
As usual, it’s difficult to glean too many details from the Season 5 Episode 6 preview. But here are some moments worth additional consideration.
- The future of John and Kayce: It looks like John Kayce will offer some fatherly advice in Episode 6 and we can’t wait to see more. Ever since Kayce saw “the end” of him and Monica in his vision, he’s been extra cautious about making decisions. After he and Monica lost the baby, he resigned from his role as livestock commissioner. But in episode 5 Monica told him that they have to move on and he shouldn’t quit his job because it wasn’t the reason for her son’s death. She encouraged Kayce to join his father on the rind brandy journey, so it seems like this could be a pivotal bonding experience for the Dutton boys.
- Beth and Rip’s relationship: Season 5 continues to shine a spotlight on Beth and Rip’s love as she keeps unearthing her complex past. It’s clear that Beth feels guilty for the way she treated Rip when they were teenagers, and the fact that she put on her hat, mounted a horse, and accompanied Rip on that day-long ride is a big one gesture on her part. The two seem more madly in love than ever this season, but we can’t help but wonder if trouble is ahead.
- Summer and Monica’s Bonding Session: With Summer wearing her house arrest ankle bracelet and Monica waiting for her boys to return, it looks like the two are having girl time at the ranch. We saw Monica be honest with Summer when the group drove away and they chatted at the cemetery, so we’re curious to see what else they do while everyone’s gone. When Summer tries to understand the meaning behind the land and way of life of Dutton, Monica seems like the perfect person to enlighten her.
- The EMT Helicopter: With so many different people, there really are so many things that can go wrong that we can’t even begin to guess what’s going on. But best of all, we’re worried!
- Who is crying in John’s arms?: Is this scene related to the EMT helicopter? Or John asks Beth, “What happened?” John is holding this person’s head, so their identity isn’t entirely clear, but based on the hair, maybe it’s Tate or Carter?
- Clara is damn cool: We’ve loved seeing more of John’s Season 5 assistant Clara in the last few episodes. And the fact that she’s a pro horseman and fits seamlessly into John’s world, both in and out of the office is delightful. It’s nice to see John’s softer side when dealing with Clara. And she never fails to surprise, so we can’t wait to see what’s in store for her in Episode 6.
