Why Savannah Guthrie isn’t on The Today Show this week +2023

Savannah Guthrie, where are you? After the absence of The Today Show As of Nov. 28, the presenter announced yesterday (Nov. 30) that she would not be co-hosting the annual Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony due to the “flu or something.”

Viewers have been concerned about Guthrie’s absence following recent rumors of her exit from the talk show, which she has hosted since 2011. Many have cited her alleged “feud” with co-host Hoda Kotb, who she posed with for a friendly selfie on her Instagram just last week.

Ahead of Guthrie’s anticipated appearance at the annual Rockefeller event, which she was scheduled to host alongside Mario Lopez, Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin, she said she would not be there because she had fallen ill.

Taking to Instagram, Guthrie shared a picture of a thermometer reading a high of 101.8F with the caption: “UGH – Flu or something since Monday. I’m so sad to miss the tree lights and TODAY. Hopefully it will be over soon! miss everyone I’ll watch.”

Guthrie’s participation in the The Today Show been rocky lately; The host was absent from the talk show throughout August, missing August 19 and 22, Per Hello magazineand again on August 27th and 30th. And she’s not the only presenter missing: Al Roker has been absent since Nov. 4 due to complications caused by blood clots in his leg and lung, which resulted in him missing his first Thanksgiving Day parade in 27 years.

Decider has contacted representatives at The Today Show to clarify Guthrie’s recent absence, but received no response at the time of publication.

Luckily Guthrie’s absence shouldn’t set off any alarms this time. We’re in the early days of the dreaded flu season and she had a sparkling clean attendance record for November. But that is clear The Today Show Viewers are ready to return to normal, and loyal followers of similar programs have been drawn by recent drama – Good morning Americawe look at you

We wish Guthrie a speedy recovery (and no unforeseen changes in the near future)!
