The Hollywood Reporter noted that the new movie’s name comes from the ’90s cartoon Beast Wars, which revolves around a group of robots that transform into animals. Caple Jr., who grew up a Beast Wars fan, drew inspiration from the cartoon for his Transformers vision. “There are different types of Transformers,” Caple Jr. said during a virtual press event in June 2021, per THR. “In our particular film, they are prehistoric animals that travel through time and space, and we find them here on Earth.”
