I’ve spent years looking for the most comfortable sofa and after my long journey I feel like I know every sofa by heart. If you’re looking for a new one, I’m here to help make it easy for you. While there are thousands of ways to shop online, finding just the right thing is a lot easier said than done. My ideal couch had to be the right size, good quality, stylish and of course comfortable. To inspire you to make the right choice for your home, I’ve compiled a list of my 16 favorites, including affordable sofas, leather sofas, and sofas for the best small spaces.
What to look out for when buying a sofa
Though I thought virtual furniture shopping might be difficult, turns out tons of retailers have fast shipping options, easy returns, and affordable prices that just can’t be beat. You should narrow down your needs: do you want a classic three-seater silhouette, or a large sofa or sofa bed for extra guests? Consider who will be using it and the size of your room. There’s also the material – do you want performance fabric that’s hardwearing, chic velvet, classic leather or fluffy bouclé? It can all depend on whether you have children or pets. Finally, the price is important. You can shop ahead of time for options from affordable brands like Amazon and Wayfair, as well as designer names like Lulu and Georgia and Hay. Here is a detailed guide to everything you need to know about buying a couch.
What you should look for in a long-lasting quality sofa
There are so many different things to look out for when looking for an investment property like a sofa. I’d recommend looking at fabrics like wool, linen, leather or velvet, which are traditionally more durable, and bonus points if there’s an option for some type of performance fabric that will generally stand up to more wear and tear. Generally, a sofa on the firmer side is less prone to sagging, and if there’s some type of memory foam in the sofa, that’s a good sign it’s going to last. While I don’t like playing favourites, there are a few brands that I trust completely, like West Elm, Albany Park and Maiden Home, that I know make quality, durable pieces.
Read on to see the 16 Choices I Love and Would Recommend. My personal favorite is the Albany Park Kova Sofa ($2,555, originally $3,155), which is actually an editor’s favorite as well. Find your game ahead.
