SZA serves up nostalgia with its latest outfit. On December 1, the “SOS” singer wore a unique cut-out dress made from old college t-shirts for her Saturday Night Live rehearsal. “Villain era,” she captioned the carousel on Instagram.
Styled by Alejandra Hernandezthe fitted cut-out covered midi dress was designed by Khiry creative director and multimedia artist Jameel Mohammed. Dartmouth College, University of Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt University were just a few of the schools represented. She paired the collage-like piece with a forest green hat with an upside-down smiley face.
This isn’t the first time the Grammy winner has dabbled in upcycled materials. Last year she worked with climate innovation center Slow Factory to launch Ctrl Fishing Company, her own sustainable clothing brand. “We created our own fabric based on quilted pieces of landfill fabric in different color combinations,” she told POPSUGAR at the time. “We’re just trying to make shit that I really want to wear, but also in a way that doesn’t screw up our carbon footprint or my karma, and that’s really difficult … It’s all literally made from recycled clothes, clothes that.” already been thrown away and ended up in landfill, not even clothes that were meant to be bought new.”
In addition to her colorful cutout dress, the 33-year-old artist donned a fluffy 2000-approved New York Mets bucket hat and jacket on the “SNL” set while preparing for her appearance on the comedy sketch show Presenter on December 3 prepared Keke Palmer. If this is just her behind-the-scenes fashion, we can’t wait to see what she wears on stage this weekend.
