Shania Twain, 57, came to kill at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards! The singer attended the awards ceremony as a recipient of the Music Icon Award and looked like royalty when she arrived on the red carpet on December 6. For her look at the awards ceremony, Shania referenced her iconic 1997 video for That Don’t Impress Me Much with a leopard hooded scarf and bustier top over a sheer mesh shirt. She added a long black skirt to the outfit to tie it up and updated the outfit that was clearly a tribute to the come over Single. In the original video, she wears a leopard from head to toe, including a hooded robe with built-in gloves.
The country/pop singer’s look was complete with her pink hair styled in feathery waves. Her glam look was also stunning as she accented pink eyeshadow with golden glitter. To complete the outfit, Shania wore a coral lipstick.
In honor of being named a music icon, Shania will also perform at the People’s Choice Awards and take the stage to sing a medley of her hits. It’s her first appearance on the show since 2005. “I’m so incredibly honored to be recognized as a Music Icon,” gushed Shania when the news broke. “I have some of the biggest fans in the world. They have supported me since the early days and it is their love and passion that keeps me going. I’m thrilled to be touring again and bringing them my new music and fan favorites and what better way to start than with the People’s Choice Awards.”
Shania’s medley will feature her new song “Waking Up Dreaming,” which is the lead single from her February 2023 album. queen of me. This is Shania’s first album since 2017. She announced the new song back in September, just a few weeks after her Netflix documentary. Not just a girlPremiered.
To support the album, Shania will step in The queen of me Tour beginning April 2023. She confirmed the tour in October. It begins in Spokane, Washington in April 2023 and runs throughout the summer in the United States and Canada. The tour will then resume in September 2023 with dates in Europe. Ahead of her performance at the People’s Choice Awards, Shania also announced that there will be a second leg of the tour, beginning in Texas in October 2023 and concluding in Canada in mid-November.
For the tour, Shania’s opening acts include some incredible country music stars and rising stars. Lindsay Ell, Mickey Guyton, Priscilla Block and Breland are among the artists set to perform on some of her shows for the legendary singer. Kelsea Ballerini will also open at the Nashville show in June. Kelsea has long admired Shania and listed her as one of her inspirations, and she honored the singer with an epic tribute performance at the ACM Honors event earlier this year.
