mean girls as a musical? Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried just can’t get over their legendary cult hit from 2004, but the duo agrees that a sequel needs to be done the right way. The former co-stars discussed the possibility of reprising their roles of Cady and Karen in a new one interview magazine talk. “I would kill just to do a week where we all play our own roles mean girls on Broadway,” said Amanda, 36, to which Lindsay replied, “That would be really fun.” “Because a mean girls 2 will never happen, will it?” he said Les Miserables Stern, 36, said. “I don’t know,” replied Lindsay, also 36. “I heard something about it being a movie musical and I was like, ‘Oh no.’ We can’t. It has to be the same tone.”
Amanda agreed that it would be “just really different” as a musical. Still, Amanda seemed hopeful mean girls could be revived. “However, Tine [Fey] is busy,” she said. “She will take care of it. Listen, we’re all part of each other’s worlds, whether we like it or not, and it’s really nice to be in touch as adults.” Lindsay added that it’s “fun to have certain memories that we share with can’t share with anyone,” noting that “everybody’s still the same.”
The duo also mentioned what an amazing experience it was making the film. “That was my first film,” Amanda noted. “You were right in the thick of it and created a really fun atmosphere. I didn’t know how good it was going to be.” “I felt like just because filmmaking isn’t always that fun, I knew it would catch on,” Lindsay replied. “But I never knew what it would be until today.”
Lindsay is currently enjoying married life with her new husband Bader Shamas and basks in the glow of a comeback sparked by her new film In love with Christmas. And a source recently told us that another sequel for the former teenage queen could be on the horizon. A source told us earlier this month that Lindsay and former Crazy Friday costar Jamie Lee Curtis64, have spoken out about a possible sequel to the 2003 comedy.
“[Lindsay and Jamie Lee] are confident they can pull this off, and they have a bunch of incredibly talented and willing people around them who are extremely committed to getting this project off the ground and working on it,” the insider said HollywoodLife ONLY for a November 12 report. “They’ve already developed a storyline and are talking to several different studios and producers who are all very interested.”
