Princess Kate takes boston! The British royal and her husband, Prince Williamarrived in Massachusetts on Wednesday, November 30, marking her first US visit in eight years.
Kate, 40, wasted no time serving up looks as she departed Boston’s Logan Airport in a deep purple Alexander McQueen suit. The elegant number featured a tailored blazer and high-waisted trousers. Her look went perfectly with William’s navy blue outfit.
The princess paired the ensemble with a dark turtleneck and dangling diamond and sapphire earrings that previously belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Born in Britain, he loves Alexander McQueen pieces, having appeared in a number of the fashion house’s dresses and coats over the years. When she married 40-year-old William in 2011, she famously wore a lace-embellished Alexander McQueen gown.
Shortly after arriving in Boston, the Duchess of Cambridge slipped into a long-sleeved Burberry green tartan dress to meet Mayor Michelle Wu. She combined the festive look, which is particularly perfect for winter, with a coat by Alexander McQueen. Kate carried a green handbag from Mulberry – another popular brand for the princess.
Later on Wednesday, the royal couple enjoyed watching the Boston Celtics take on the Miami Heat. William and Kate were all smiling as they enjoyed the sporting event while seated next to the court. For the occasion, the Duchess of Cornwall wore a vintage Chanel blue blazer with a dainty black lining. She styled the outerwear piece with fitted black pants. William also looked relaxed, wearing a navy blue blazer and button-down shirt.
The future king expressed his excitement at being back in America and thanked the governor on Twitter Charlie Baker for his hospitality.
“Catherine and I are delighted to be back in the United States and are very grateful to Governor Baker and the First Lady of Massachusetts for their warm welcome to Boston,” he said Wednesday. “On our first overseas visit since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly Boston for the many tributes they have paid to the late Queen. She remembered her bicentennial visit in 1976 with great fondness.”
The duo’s trip was announced in July. “In 2022 we are back and bringing Earthshot to the United States where we will be honoring the next five winners of the award,” William said in a video shared via Twitter with a Boston Red Sox player Xander Bogaertswho chimed in, “And we’re going to do it right here in Boston.”
