Bam Margera was hospitalized after suffering pneumonia and is currently on a ventilator while continuing to undergo his treatment. TMZ reported that the donkey The star has been diagnosed with “a very severe case of pneumonia” and has also tested positive for COVID-19.
Margera was admitted to a San Diego hospital earlier this week, where he tested positive for the virus, per TMZ. Due to the severity of his illness, the reality star was put on a ventilator and treated in intensive care but is in stable condition.
His hospitalization comes during a difficult year for Margera, who has been to rehab twice this year and has escaped from both facilities, only to return later for treatment. Margera has openly struggled with drugs and alcohol over the years, and his family reportedly held an intervention in June to help him seek treatment.
Margera’s brother and mother released a joint statement on Instagram in August, updating fans on Margera’s treatment after he was appointed temporary health guardian.
“Bam is currently undergoing treatment and we’re helping him with his social media while he focuses on his recovery,” they said at the time. “We are his family who love him and communicate with him to work together on his content and updates. It is with great appreciation that we thank his former health guardian @limafromaura for all she has contributed. Thank you everyone for your support throughout this wild ride. With heart – family Margera 💜”
Margera has also received open support from his former donkey co-star Johnny Knoxville, despite his difficult experience filming the youngest donkey Movie, donkey foreverfrom which Margera was cut off after testing positive for Adderall.
In an October interview with diversity, Knoxville insisted he still loves Margera and only wishes him well, telling the outlet, “It boils down to this: I love Bam. I know a lot has happened. I just want him to get healthy for himself and his family. I love the guy and I want him to get healthy and stay healthy.”
