Her Grey’s anatomy Days together may be behind them, but their friendship endures. TV icon Ellen Pompeo and her costar Eric Dane, who plays Mark Sloane on the long-running ABC drama, met for sushi in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 1 and they hugged sweetly as friends. In pictures you can SEE HERE about the daily mail, Ellen, 53, rocked a black coat, ponytail and simple hoop earrings as she smiled broadly next to Eric and appeared to be carrying a cellphone.
Eric, 50, also seemed pleased to see his longtime girlfriend, who recently announced she was leaving the hugely successful show after 19 seasons. He wore a dark sweater, white t-shirt and jeans as he hugged his famous pal. This isn’t their first cast reunion either. The duo also met Justin Chambers for a fun dinner in June 2021.
Ellen is married to her husband Chris Ivery54 while Eric split from his wife Rebekah Gayhart, 51, in 2018. And Eric’s admiration for Ellen was evident when he was recently asked if the show would survive without her. “I don’t know,” Eric stated during one performance SiriusXMs Andy Cohen live in June 2022. “That’s a good question. You know, is it the show that’s the star or is it Ellen that’s the star of the show and I, I don’t know,” he said. “I think at this point I think I could live without her, but I think it would be short-lived.” He also joked about “how rich” she could be after directing the medical drama for nearly two decades. “I don’t think Ellen has to work anymore, Andy,” he laughed.
Last month, Ellen finally made the decision to step down and go about her personal life Instagram account to make the announcement. “I am infinitely grateful and humbled by the love and support you all have shown me, Meredith GRAY and the show for 19 seasons!” she said in the Nov. 17 post alongside a gorgeous portrait. “Through all of this… none of this… would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You are all DRIVERS and you all made the ride so fun and ICONIC!! I love you madly and appreciate you right back. This isn’t the first time you’ve been riding a roller coaster… you know the show must go on and I’ll be sure to visit again. With much love and great gratitude, XoE.”
