Cher76, admitted the 40-year age gap between her and her new boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, 36, is “ridiculous”. She made the comment while appearing on the December 2 episode The Kelly Clarkson Show (see below) after Kelly, 40, asked about her new love. “Well, it’s kind of ridiculous on paper. But in real life we get along really well. He’s fabulous and I don’t give men qualities they don’t deserve,” she smiled. “He’s very nice, he’s very smart, he’s very talented and he’s really funny and I think he’s pretty handsome,” she continued.
After congratulating Cher on finding love, Kelly asked the “If I Could Turn Back Time” hitmaker if it was true that older men were “intimidated” by her. Cher confirmed without hesitation. “If I hadn’t met any younger men in my life, I would never have dated because older men just didn’t like me that much, you know what I mean?” she explained.
“I had a few friends who were about my age but they just didn’t like me for some reason,” she continued. “Maybe… younger men don’t care if you’re funny or rude and want to do silly things, and you know you have a strong personality. I don’t give up my personality for anyone.” As the romantic portion of the interview drew to a close, Cher was rewarded with a vigorous round of applause from the audience.
Cher has made up her mind Twitter a few times to defend their relationship over the past month. On November 6, she replied to a fan who tweeted that they were “suspicious” the music manager’s intentions to date Cher. “As we all know… I WAS NOT BORN YESTERDAY, and what I know for sure… There are no guarantees. Every time you make a decision, you take a chance. I’ve always taken risks…it’s WHO I am,” she wrote back, exuding confidence.

Later in the month, she hit back at criticism by sharing some of AE’s wisdom. “AE says [love] can’t do math,” she tweeted.

A few days later, HollywoodLife confirmed the relationship, with an insider revealing that Cher has renewed confidence because of her new love. “She totally rocked Paris Fashion Week and then came home with this fun new romance,” gushed the insider HL EXCLUSIVELY. “She just isn’t into men her age and the people in her life are pretty well used to it,” the source added. “They want to see her happy and this new romance has given her a huge boost.”
Alexander previously dated model and television personality amber rose, 39, for three years. They welcomed a son Slash Electric Alexander Edwardsinto the world in 2019. They split in 2021 after Alexander confessed to being unfaithful. “I’ve been caught before, you know what I mean? And she’s obviously just had enough,” Alexander said during one Instagram live in August 2021 after Amber publicly dragged him for infidelity. “Nevertheless, I love her. This is my best friend, my son’s mother.”
Cher has been married twice before. She walked down the aisle with her musical partner Sonny Bono in 1964. They were married until 1975. After that she was married to Allman Brothers Band rocker Greg Allman between 1975 and 1979. She had one son in each marriage.
