Peeking into someone else’s makeup bag is exciting: you can discover new products and be inspired – sometimes you even find a new favorite in the process. Our intern Carla opens her beauty case with you and presents her personal must-haves.

by Carla Jörn

The morning beauty routine is sacred to me. I like to take my time to freshen my face – sometimes maybe too much. After washing, I use Lancôme’s Advanced Génifique Sensitive Serum on my face to soothe my skin. Depending on my mood, I like to use color for my make-up or put on a more eye-catching eye look. An even complexion and well-groomed lips are also important to me in my everyday look. I will tell you here which products I absolutely cannot do without.

Garnier SkinActive BB Cream

I’m pretty lucky with my skin. I rarely have small pimples and impurities. My problem is: My face turns bright red with every little temperature change or stress. To prevent this a little, I like to use Garnier BB Cream in everyday life. It has a lighter coverage than a foundation and moisturizes like a cream. Thanks to its light texture, you can simply spread the cream on your face and work it in with a make-up sponge – so the result is guaranteed not to be blotchy!

KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner in Trooper

As an absolute eyeliner lover, I need a liner I can count on – and this one never lets me down! The fine tip of the KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner is reminiscent of a thin brush and is perfect for a precise winged eyeliner or black graphic eyeliner. The color is deep black and dries quickly. At the end of the day or after a night of partying, the eyeliner is right where I put it. My perfect companion.

Carmex Lip Balm Tube

I don’t leave the house without Carmex! Not only in winter do I constantly struggle with dry lips and always need good care. The velvety texture of the lip balm, which has been around since the 1930s, makes my lips nice and soft and a little menthol makes them look fuller. The Carmex lip balm is also available with a sun protection factor and different flavors, such as “Cherry”. I bought my first Carmex in 10th grade, now I have one for every handbag!

Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain

You won’t believe what Benefit’s Benetint was originally invented for: namely for the nipples! When Benefit was a small shop in San Francisco, a dancer there wished for something that would give her nipples a rosy glow – and that’s how the Benetint concoction was born. Today the tint is my absolute favorite for rosy cheeks and natural lips. As a liquid blush, I use it after applying my foundation and use my fingers to dab the product on my cheekbones, up toward my temple. I also dab it on my lips with my fingers after applying some care beforehand. Benefit’s Benetint is super buildable, so when you start applying, less is more!

Marc Jacobs Perfect Eau de Parfum

Finally, a scent: “Perfect” by Marc Jacobs is currently my absolute favorite perfume. I got this from my mom for Christmas last year and fell in love instantly! The flacon alone, which this year even received an award from the “Duft Stars”, is simply beautiful with the sweet miniature objects. The perfume smells fruity fresh of rhubarb and narcissus and has a light heart note of almond milk. With his campaigns for the perfume, Marc Jacobs supports, among other things, the “LGBT Community Center” in New York and spreads the wonderful message: “You are perfect the way you are!”.
