More details have surfaced about it Anne Heches tragic death in her autopsy report, which confirms she had drugs in her system at the time of her fatal car accident in a blue Mini Cooper. The actress, who was 53 at the time of her death, had inactive metabolites of cocaine called benzoylecgonine, fentanyl, cannabinoids and benzodiazepines in her urine, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Report found page six reported Tuesday, December 6. In particular, fentanyl was administered when she was hospitalized for pain following her burns.
Toxicology tested on hospital admission blood showed the presence of benzoylecgonine, an inactive metabolite of cocaine. Therefore, at the time of the crash, there was no evidence of interference from illegal substances.
Although cocaine metabolite was in her system, it was concluded that there was “no evidence of interference from any illegal substance at the time of the crash,” according to the coroner. Specifically, this means she wasn’t high on illegal substances when she died. Her cause of death was previously given as resulting from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, and a fracture of her sternum caused by blunt force trauma as a contributing factor.
Due to the latter injury, it was also noted that she would have suffered “painful breathing” after the accident, which left her in her car for 30 minutes before emergency responders removed her. As a result, she suffered second-degree burns on the right side of her face and neck, shoulder, upper chest and more, totaling 12% of her body. Her death, which occurred days later in hospital, was ruled an accident.
