Joe Jonas felt devastated when he lost the role of Amazing Spider-Man to Andrew Garfield +2023

A Jonas Brother was almost a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a new interview, Joe Jonas spoke about his Spiderman Dreams that revealed he was hoping to be cast in an earlier film.

As Joe explains in the For the Variety podcast onlyIn 2012, he auditioned for the role of Spider-Man The Incredible Spiderman. When asked to reflect on a missed acting opportunity that left him “devastated,” Joe said, “I remember years ago I was ready for Spider-Man and I was so, so excited and it was the year in which Andrew Garfield got it. Obviously he was the one.”

He continued, saying, “I remember coming back for callbacks was a big deal back then and the director used to be a music video director. So I was like, “I came in here.” But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and getting out there and having to prove yourself.”

Though Joe admitted he felt “broken or defeated” at the time, he acknowledged that Andrew was “brilliant” for the role. While the superstar didn’t have an official chance to don the Spidey suit, he apparently had a fit of his own, saying, “I’m sure I’ve had one that I used to try on occasionally.”

The podcast interview comes ahead of Joe’s return to film. He appears in the new film Dedication, based on the story of two Korean War naval officers. “It’s obviously been a minute since I’ve acted anything,” Joe said. “The pandemic has really given me a lot of time. Touring wasn’t really an option so I thought well what am I doing here with myself? I obviously love acting and it’s something I’ve always wanted to go back to.”

We’ll have to stay tuned to see if Joe Jonas shows up in future films, but he hasn’t ruled out a collaboration with Sophie Turner. “I think it comes down to the right role or the right project. I think it would be fun,” he said.
