The much-anticipated avatar Consequence, the way of the water, is slated to hit theaters December 16, and all eyes are on the film’s stars, including Bailey Bass as Tsireya, a new character in the Na’vi world storyline. The role is an important one for Bass, who allows it Teen Vogue Join her and her glamorous team as they prepare for the red carpet premiere.
“Every time I promote a project, I want the looks to be inspired by that project. avatar is as big as it gets,” said Bass, who does a lot of creative planning when preparing for a large event. “There’s so much to draw inspiration from,” she noted, adding that she’s made one Pinterest board ideas and shared them with her stylist, Andrew Gelwicks. “When I put on an outfit, there has to be a feeling. It has to tick all the boxes. This premiere is so important to me – you know, we’ve waited so long – so my whole team was involved.”
Bass chose a deep purple, off-the-shoulder Christian Dior Resort ’23 gown for the occasion. “For the world premiere look, Bailey was very excited about the idea of trying to bring the world avatar on the carpet,” Gelwicks said. “We’ve found a great partner to work with in Dior and I’m so thrilled with the flowing purple look.” Even Bass’ ocean blue manicure by artist Tatiana Nigay was an ode to avatar; take over three hours to complete the look.
With the dress selected and secured, Bass’ glam team got to work. Hairstylist Nicola Harrowell prepped her client’s hair with Kevin Murphy Leave-In Smoothing Treatment to leave hair feeling hydrated, then created a looped braid style. “The glam theme was ‘ethereal,’ so the looped braids are a nod to a halo,” Harrowell explained. “I love this look – it’s high gloss but no heat was used. We need to see more braids and natural hairstyles on the red carpet.”
Makeup artist Paul Blanche was inspired by the intricate markings on the faces of the Na’vi. He used products from nyx Avatar: The Way of Water collection, incl Biolume Stick highlighter in Coral Reef on Bass Cheeks that color palette on her eyes, and the Pandoran Paradise Cheek Palette. He used those too Nyx Epic Wear waterproof liquid eyeliner to create the white dots in Bass’ inner corners and along her lower lash line.
