Life is “too short” to worry about aging Kate Winslet. The actress opened up about embracing her changing looks and why there is “power” in aging.
“I’m 47, there are parts that no longer do what you want them to do,” he said titanic Star said during her interview on Thursday, December 8th BBC radio 4‘s “Women’s Hour”. She continued, “It’s kind of fabulous to be like, ‘Oh, well, that’s just the way it is, isn’t it?'”
Winslet went on to share that she wants women to stop pushing the narrative that the prime of life ends at 40, the decline begins and things start to change and fade and slide in directions I no longer go wants them to go.’ And I just decided no.”
She went on to explain that women are getting older: “We’re getting more feminine, more powerful, more sexy. We grow more into ourselves, we have the opportunity to speak and speak our mind and are not afraid of what people think of us, we don’t care what we look like. I find it amazing.”
Winslet added: “Let’s go girl, let’s just be in our power. Why not?”
Winslet’s attitude toward aging is something she hopes to emphasize through her work. In the first episode of I amIn Season 3, she portrays Ruth – a concerned mother struggling to help her daughter not be so influenced by social media. In front of the camera, the Labor Day star opted to go makeup-free in hopes of capturing authenticity.
“I’m passionate about highlighting issues that need to be talked about, that people might have a hard time talking about,” she told The Woman’s Hour, noting, “And I’m not shy about it, really often looking like a hot mess at times. I mean, who wears makeup at the school run? I don’t.”
There’s no denying that Winslet looks as good as ever. Before her BBC radio appearance, the Oscar winner visited the Avatar: The Way of Water Premiered in London on Tuesday December 6 in a dress she first wore seven years ago. That night, she rocked her hair in a similar updo, but opted for a center parting instead of the voluminous combo she wore on Tuesday.
