As co-moderator on The view comes with its own special perks, including invitations to some of the most exclusive events, including the White House Christmas party. Both Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro attended the A-list soirée yesterday (December 8), where they mingled with President Joe Biden and even stayed up for the after-party. While opening up about her celebratory evening on tonight’s episode, Navarro shared the special meaning the White House has to her – but couldn’t get far before being interrupted by her co-host Joy Behar.
Navarro, who had photos with Marc Anthony and Biden as evidence of her starry night at the White House, told the panel why she gets so excited every time she enters the historic building and it has nothing to do with the famous faces, she has meets there.
She began: “I am a refugee from Nicaragua. And I…” but Behar cut her off and joked, “I’m a refugee from Brooklyn.”
Navarro pursed his lips and raised an eyebrow before replying, “I’m getting on a bit and I had to naturalize.”
After finishing Behar’s joke, she got back to the point, explaining, “Every time I walk into the White House I really want to pinch myself because I can’t believe I’m there and it’s just the awe before history, of the importance of the building, of the things that hang on the walls. And at Christmas it is so incredibly beautiful. Happy to report that the trees are green again, not red‘ she said in a dig at former First Lady Melania Trump.
At the beginning of the segment, Behar wondered if anyone missed her at the annual event, before her co-hosts revealed that she had been invited but revealed her as a no-show.
“Did someone ask about me? I wasn’t there,” Behar said, to which Hostin replied, “You were asked,” but Navarro stepped in to correct the narrative, saying, “On your birthday you said, ‘I hope I get invited to Christmas Party.’ Then they invited you to the Christmas party and you don’t come.”
After Hostin told Behar that the President was looking for her at the party, she joked, “It’s my cross to bear with my party animal aura. I usually fall asleep.”
