A woman named Shannon “Shay” Ruth asserts that Nick Carter sexually assaulted her after inviting her to the Back Street Boys‘ Tour bus in 2001, according to preserved court records PERSONS. The woman, who suffers from cerebral palsy and autism, went on to claim Nick gave her a drink he dubbed “VIP juice,” which she believes contained alcohol. Shannon claims Nick asked her to perform oral sex on him in the bathroom of the band’s tour bus and she claims the alleged sexual assault then continued on a bed.
Shannon says she was a virgin at the time of the alleged incident and claims she contracted HPV afterwards, so she is seeking compensation. She also claims she warned Nick that she would tell anyone what allegedly happened on the bus, but he allegedly threatened her and insisted no one would believe her. Shannon detailed the alleged encounter in her filing and said she cried throughout the alleged incident.
“The last 21 years have been filled with the pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me,” the 39-year-old said during the press conference on December 8th, which you can see above. “Although I’m autistic and living with cerebral palsy, I don’t think anything has affected me more or had a bigger impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me. I remember after he raped me he called me a ‘re—ed bitch’ and grabbed me and left bruises on my arm.”
During the press conference, she added, “Carter tried to silence me through fear … he was mean and menacing.” Shannon said she was initially reluctant to come forward because she thought she was “going to jail.” , but now she wants to stop Nick “from attacking more teenagers and women” and have him “held accountable.” HollywoodLife reached out to Nick’s rep for comment, but we haven’t received a response yet.
Nick hasn’t publicly commented on the ordeal, but a source close to him did tell TMZ that the allegations are “categorically false”. 2017 singer Melissa Schumann accused Nick of raping her more than 15 years ago. Nick denied these allegations on file and he was never charged with a crime. Prosecutors did not pursue charges against Nick in this case because the statute of limitations on the allegations had expired.
Nick is in the middle of a tour with the Backstreet Boys, which will take a break over the holidays and then resume in 2023. He also mourns the death of his brother. Aaron Carter, who died at home on November 5. Although Aaron and Nick had a turbulent relationship that was full of ups and downs, Nick was devastated at the loss of his younger sibling. “My heart is broken,” he continued Instagram after Aaron’s death. “Even though my brother and I had a complicated relationship, my love for him never waned.” He added, “I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. i love you chizz Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth.”
