Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell provided some Nickelodeon nostalgia at the People’s Choice Awards on December 6th. For the first time in 25 years, the comedy duo reunited on the red carpet just hours before Thompson was scheduled to host the awards show. The last time the former All That stars walked the red carpet together was at the Good Burger premiere in 1997, when they were both in their late teens.
As the pair posed together on the red carpet, they looked like they hadn’t missed a beat and instantly reverted to their classic Kenan & Kel vibes. Between moments of cheering for each other and snapping selfies with fans, the stars also took a moment to show off their coordinated outfits. Thompson arrived in a midnight blue velvet suit, while Mitchell complemented the Saturday Night Live star’s ensemble in his own satin suit and navy buttons.
Now that Good Burger 2 is on the way and filming is expected to begin soon, Thompson and Mitchell have surprise reunions left and right planned. Most recently, the duo appeared in a “Kenan & Kel”-inspired skit alongside the evening’s host, Keke Palmer. In September, the friends really surprised the crowd when they took the stage together at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, their first big reunion since the ’90s.
In the years since they co-hosted their own sketch comedy show on Nickelodeon, the stars’ careers have exploded. Thompson – a father of two – earned the title of longest-running “SNL” cast member after 20 seasons. Meanwhile, Mitchell — a father of four — appeared on season 28 of “Dancing With the Stars” and pursued a career as a writer and musician.
