The Holiday director Nancy Meyers denies sequel rumours: ‘Sorry, it’s not true’ +2023

It looks like a sequel to The holidays Don’t come down the chimney with Santa this winter. Just one day it was reported that a second movie was in the works, director Nancy Meyers and actress Kate Winslet shut the rumors down.

Meyers, who directed the 2006 romantic comedy, posted a screenshot of an article containing the (obviously bogus) news along with the caption“So many DMs about it – sorry but it’s not true.”

Many took to the comments section to express their disappointment, including Katie Couric, who simply posted a heartbroken emoji, as well as the official Instagram account for The Academy, which left a bunch of sobbing faces.

Other stars like A hill of trees Alum Danneel Ackles wrote: “NEEEEEEEE! Please do it!!!” while singer-songwriter Morgane Stapleton commented, “Nancy!!! Give people what they want!!!”

Winslet, who starred in the film as columnist Iris Simpkins, also shut down rumors of a possible second film.

“I’ve read about it, but it’s the first time I’m hearing about it,” she said persons. “I promise you no agent or representative or anyone from the first round spoke to me about this. Hand on heart, that has never happened before.”

The holidays is about two women, played by Winslet and Cameron Diaz, who decide to swap houses over the holidays after getting into romantic trouble. While staying in each other’s different countries, they eventually fall in love with local men.

News of the sequel first made the rounds when The Daily Mail reported that the original cast, which includes Jack Black and Jude Law in addition to Winslet and Diaz, were on board with a second film that was reportedly set to follow 16 years later where the OG characters are now.

However, it looks like we’ll be hoping for a future sequel a little longer. On the other hand, some masterpieces might be better left untouched.
