Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines may have been absent The view this morning, but there was no shortage of drama as Alyssa Farah Griffin hit back at Ana Navarro during a conversation about ‘toxic femininity’. irony, much?
Whoopi Goldberg introduced the “Hot Topics” segment, taken from a Reddit thread where several women shared times when they were told to “act like a lady” or were “bullied by other moms.” .
Griffin, who sometimes finds herself the only conservative host at the table on the opposite side of the show’s debates, was the first to offer her thoughts on toxic femininity — which she says is very real.
“We have come a long way in criticizing some of the male practices that are unhelpful and needed to be pointed out,” she said. “And I think women have come a long way, but we can also be each other’s worst enemies.”
She continued, “It still is, and I hate to say it, but some of the worst bosses I’ve ever had have been women and sometimes colleagues in the workplace who have been women.”
Navarro quickly chimed in with the zinger, “This is what happens when you work with Kellyanne Conway,” referencing Griffin’s previous experience working with the Trump administration. The co-host has since spoken out against the former president, often denouncing him on the daytime talk show — yet the other women on the panel certainly don’t make her forget her time in the White House.
Navarro’s comment didn’t sit well with Griffin and even gave her more evidence of the ubiquity of toxic femininity.
“I can’t really get a word out without you attacking me, so I wouldn’t say it’s totally different,” Griffin fired back. “This isn’t some completely different environment where women support each other.”
Speaking about her, Navarro claimed, “Oh, I haven’t attacked you in two weeks.”
Well, it looks like it’s time to restart the countdown to the next time she comes after the co-host.
The view airs weekdays at 11/10 a.m. on ABC.
