George Clooney bid farewell to single life when he went public with his romance with his wife Amal while on an African safari in March 2014. After being introduced by a mutual friend in 2013, the two spent several months communicating online before dating in London. They had a whirlwind courtship before making things official when they tied the knot in Venice, Italy in September 2014 after a weekend of celebrations.
In their years together, they’ve shared many sweet moments at events, on red carpets, and fighting for causes they believe in — for example, in 2016, they founded the Clooney Foundation For Justice, which works to support human rights-related causes. In June 2017, the couple welcomed twins Ella and Alexander and they’ve been open about their parenting journeys. They have also spoken openly about their love for each other. “[I thought] I’ll work, I have great friends, my life is full, I’m fine. And I didn’t realize how unfulfilled it was until I met Amal,” George said GQ in 2020. “And then everything changed. And I thought, ‘Oh, actually, this was a huge empty space.’ … I’ve never been in the position where I cared about someone else’s life infinitely more than my own.”
