The week marks the return of childhood friends from Firefly Lane and the premiere of a prestigious limited series about hapless country legends, and they just show that no relationship is perfect. New movies and shows to stream this weekend: Firefly Lane (Season 2), George & Tammy, slow horses + More
The main characters in Netflix Firefly Lane, Tully and Kate have been through a lot of drama and trauma together, and the show’s second season promises more of that. Based on the book series by Kristin Hannah, the TV version ends with this second season being split in half. Over on Showtime, an equally dramatic — but true — relationship story comes to life George & Tammy, the story of George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s short-lived but passionate marriage. And on Apple TV+, Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jack Lowden return slow horsesthe darkly funny yet suspenseful series about a gang of MI5 agents who are considered second-line spies.

New on Netflix on December 2nd: Firefly Lane (Season 2)
Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) are two women who have been best friends since childhood on Firefly Lane. Their story is told both in the present and in flashbacks over the years, and by the end of season one it sure looked like their friendship might have been hanging by a thread when Kate told Tully she could never forgive her what she did was. What did she do? And will the two ever be friends again? The second season (which will feature a whopping sixteen episodes split in half) returns to Netflix on Friday, and with so many episodes to fill, something tells me these two won’t stay mad at each other forever.

New to Showtime on December 4th: George & Tammy
Music legends George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s marriage only lasted six years, but it produced one of the most influential partnerships in the country music world personally and professionally. In the new limited Showtime series George & TammyMichael Shannon and Jessica Chastain take on the roles of the artists whose relationship was steeped in drama but produced some of the most memorable songs ever recorded.

New on Apple TV+ December 2nd: slow horses
If you need even more proof that Gary Oldman can play just about any character, look no further than Apple TV+ slow horses. Having played Sid Vicious, Winston Churchill and Sirius Black, Oldman is back as Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses, a gripping thriller about a group of MI5 agents who are relegated to Slough House, a dumping ground for agents with imperfect records . The Agents, led by the brilliant but disheveled Lamb, and while they could be seen as a gang of losers, they still have the ominous task of foiling a terrorist attack on London this season.
