troll is a Norwegian Netflix Original film directed by Roar Uthaug from a screenplay he co-wrote with Espen Aukan. It was also produced by Uthaug, Aukan and Kristian Strand Sinkerud.
Uthaug has wanted to create something inspired by Norwegian folklore in the past but never got around to it. Eventually, Uthaug met with the production company Motion Blur and troll was officially given the green light. Now, years later, the fantasy film is out.
The story follows a group of people who band together to stop an ancient troll awakened by an explosion in the Norwegian mountains and stop him from destroying Norway’s capital. Uthaug and Sinkerud mentioned that the reactions to the first film have to be positive for a sequel to be possible.
