The Witcher is known for many things. sword fights. Monster. Grumpy Geralt. Jaskiers sing. Strong Yennefer. And of course Ciri and her screams. It’s not exactly known for Christmas. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve a Christmassy episode. The show is practically asking for one.
The first reason why the fantasy series should have a Christmas episode is that so far every season has premiered in December. What better time than the holidays to have a Christmas episode? The first season premiered in December 2019 and the second became available in December 2021. And in season 2 there was a lot of snow.
The second reason the show needs a Christmas episode? What better way to bring together the found family of Geralt, Jaskier, Yennefer and Ciri?
Imagine Geralt receiving a gift from Yennefer. Imagine buying too many for Ciri. Imagine he buys Jaskier a new instrument and Jaskier has to leave the room because he is getting too emotional. Or Ciri gets Geralt a present and Jaskier makes fun of Geralt for shedding a single tear. That’s what the fans need. Make our fanfiction dreams come true for at least one episode.
The Witcher needs a holiday episode ASAP
But while I say Christmas, the winter holiday they celebrate can be any fantasy holiday the writers dream up. The Witcher The world doesn’t exactly seem to be one that screams Santa and Rudolph. There may be a holiday celebrating that law of surpriseconsidering it brought Ciri and Geralt together.
It would also be nice to see these characters get a break from war, struggle and death. An hour-long episode of them having some downtime and maybe fighting an evil reindeer monster would give audiences some breathing space before we dive back into the battles and horrors of The Witcher World.
