Whoopi Goldberg tells ‘The View’ she felt pressured to marry three times but ‘didn’t want to’ +2023

Whoopi Goldberg says she’s officially convinced of the concept after three marriage attempts. The view The co-host opened up about her love life on tonight’s show, where she sat back and listened to those who spoke to her lament the difficulties of marriage – which, being happily single, she doesn’t have to deal with.

When the Hot Topics table universally admitted that marriage can be tough, Goldberg scratched his head and told them, “I’ve been sitting here with you guys for how long telling you exactly that.”

“It’s not for everyone,” she said. “I’ve done it a few times. But the reason I did it is because the custom of our nation says, well, you should be married. That’s how I grew up. you should marry But no one said, ‘Unless it’s not for you.’ So I tried it a few times to see if maybe I was doing something wrong, and what I did wrong was not admitting that I didn’t want to be married to anyone.”

She continued, “I don’t want to share. I don’t want to say how I feel about what you did. don’t come into my house I think it’s very important.”

While Sunny Hostin pointed out that Goldberg is “such a generous person,” despite her views on sharing a life with someone, she replied, “I’m very generous. But that’s my choice, and I don’t want anyone to question my generosity. … I don’t want to talk to you guys about it.”

Goldberg is an outspoken proponent of single life and is somewhat famous for her iconic 2016 quote about marriage, which she shared with The Magazine of the New York Times: “I don’t want anyone in my house.” And after tonight’s show, it seems like she hasn’t faltered a bit. Well, maybe barring a little hit-and-run dating stunt here and there.

The view airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
