the swimmers was released on Netflix on November 23, 2022. The feature-length film tells the inspirational true story of sisters Yusra and Sara Mardini, who fled war-torn Syria to Europe in hopes of fulfilling Yusra’s dream of competing in the Olympics.
Directed by Sally El Hosaini (My brother the devil, Babylon, and The Fifth Bowl), the film is a biographical drama that describes the hardships faced by foreign refugees and the passion and determination of a young athlete who wants to succeed against all odds.

“Two Syrian sisters flee their war-torn home in Damascus, swim for hours in the troubled Mediterranean to make their way to Greece as asylum seekers before attending the Rio Olympics.”
