Kirstie Alley battled colon cancer before dying on December 5 at the age of 71, according to her rep persons. The details of Kirstie’s illness were confirmed just hours after her children revealed she had died. Kirstie and her now ex-husband, Parker Stevensonadopted her two children, Wilhelm “True” Stevenson30 and Lili Stevenson28, 1992 and 1995 respectively. They announced their deaths via a statement at Kirstie Twitter Page on the evening of December 5th.
True and Lillie described Kirstie as “amazing, wild and loving” in their statement. They also revealed that she “only recently discovered” her cancer. “Surrounded by her closest family, she fought with great vigour, leaving us with the assurance of her never-ending zest for life and all the adventures ahead,” the statement said. “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”
The siblings thanked the staff at Moffitt Cancer Center for caring for Kirstie in the run-up to her death. “The zest for life and passion of our mother, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her everlasting joy in creating, was unparalleled and inspires us to live life to the fullest, just as she did,” concluded the couple. “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.” Kirstie separated from True and Lillie’s father Parker in 1997 and became a grandmother when True had a son in 2016.
Kirstie is mostly known for her roles in movies like Look who’s speaking, it takes two and Mercilessly beautifulas well as TV shows like cheers and veRonica’s closet. Earlier this year she was a contestant on Season 7 of The Masked Singer. She also competed Dancing with the stars twice, finished 2nd in her first season and then 7th when she returned for the All stars Season.
