At some point we all get to the age where, just before the wedding season, one wedding invitation after another flutters into the house. If you don’t always want to wear the same style at the celebrations, we have five elegant wedding hairstyles for you – for beginners to professionals.

New year, new wedding invitations and no idea what to wear. Which gifts are appropriate and should the hair sit? Of course, there are numerous guides, dress codes or wish lists for the first two points. However, the latter is usually neglected, and this is probably where the greatest uncertainty lies.

One thing is certain: at weddings you want to show yourself from your best side, but at the same time you don’t want to steal the show from the bride. So what is too much and what can you do when you are having a bad hair day? We’ll show you that holiday hairstyles don’t always have to be complicated and time-consuming, but in the end they still look like a professional.

5 stylish hairstyles for wedding guests

Hair bows: glamor in a few seconds

Let’s start very simply. Probably the simplest, but incredibly effective hairstyle for big celebrations are hair bows. We know bows from gifts and sashes, which is why we immediately associate the hair accessory with something festive. So this glamor look doesn’t need much more than a half-up hairstyle – perfect for people with two left hands.

Ponytail with a difference

The hair once again not freshly washed or just had a bad hair day and our hair ends up in a ponytail again. The uncomplicated hairstyle is light and conjures up more volume, especially high versions. The high braid does not look really chic. For weddings, the ponytail needs an update. And you can easily do that with a twisted strand. That’s how it’s done:

  1. Tie your hair into a low ponytail, but leave two strands hanging out.
  2. Bring the two strands together at the back of your head and secure them with a small hair tie.
  3. Finally, twist the strands once so that there is a hole through which you thread the other braid. Finally, tighten everything and fix with hairspray.

Waves with Hollywood flair

Sometimes when it comes to hairstyles, less is more. For example, light Hollywood waves can do much more than an elaborate updo that at the end of the evening looks like birds have been looking for food in it. All you need is either a flat iron or a wide curling iron and some patience.

Braided topknot

After three beginner hairstyles, this is now followed by an advanced look: the braided topknot. Updo hairstyles are mostly the work of hairdressers or make-up artists, but with simple tricks you can also tie your hair up impressively – I promise. That’s how it works:

  1. Braid your hair into a high braid. A French braid can help with short hair.
  2. Then roll up the braid and secure with a hair tie. A few extra bobby pins add extra support.

Elegant chignon: The classic among wedding hairstyles

At weddings, of course, one hairstyle should not be missing: the chignon. The elegant knot has a long tradition as a bridal hairstyle, but guests can also make the look their own. The following applies here: We leave the perfection to the bride, as a guest the bun can look a little more airy. The combination of a bun with light braided elements is particularly recommended, so the chignon fits both the garden wedding and the high-society wedding at the Ritz-Carlton.
