Savage Salvation, The Eternal Daughter, + More +2023

Looking for some serious acting this weekend? You’re lucky. This week’s new movies on VOD include the new movie Wild Redemption, in which Robert De Niro joins a star cast that also includes John Malkovich and Jack Huston in a story of revenge amid the opioid crisis. For a little more indie – a little more A24, if you will – Tilda Swinton stars The Eternal Daughtera haunting story about a mother and daughter who visit a spooky manor house in the middle of the English countryside and are haunted by memories of the past.

Since it’s December now, you might be looking for something a little more festive, so it’s the perfect time to give it a try Christmas with the Campbells. Co-written by Vince Vaughn, this holiday romcom stars Brittany Snow as Jesse, a woman who usually spends Christmas with her boyfriend Shawn (Alex Moffat) and his family, the Campbells. However, Shawn leaves Jesse just before the holidays when he drives to New York in search of a job offer, leaving her in the dust. But Jesse has a bond with the Campbells and his parents (played by Julia Duffy and George Wendt) take them in anyway, and guess what? Shawn has a hot cousin named Daniel (Justin Long) who might be a much better match for Jesse than Shawn ever was.

These are just some of the titles available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube and your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now!

In the new movie Wild Redemption, Jack Huston plays a man named Shelby John whose fiancé Ruby (Willa Fitzgerald) dies of a heroin overdose. Consumed by grief and anger, Shelby decides revenge is the only option and he tries to hunt down the drug dealer who sold Ruby the drugs that killed her. The film’s pedigree isn’t too shabby, co-stars are Robert De Niro as the sheriff who investigates a series of opioid-related deaths, and John Malkovich and Quavo of Migos in his first film role.

Tilda Swinton stars The Eternal Daughter as a woman named Julie who takes her aging mother to a country estate for a birthday trip. Tilda Swinton also plays the aging mother Rosalind, whose daughter she takes to a country estate. The two women appear to be the only guests in this creepy, dark old mansion, but then Julie begins to wonder if they really are alone. Are there really ghosts in the house or just old memories haunting the couple? That is the question. The film is an extension of filmmaker Joanna Hogg’s previous films, The keepsake and The souvenir II, in which Swinton’s daughter Honor Swinton Byrne played the role of Julie, and Swinton played Rosalind. Now Swinton plays both roles in an intriguing meta-story that only she could pull off.
