Lisa HochsteinThe divorce is currently playing out in season 5 of The Real Housewives of Miamiwhich premiered on Peacock on December 8th and during recent interviews with Marysol patton and alexia Nepolasaid HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that they were “surprised” by Lisa and lennyis split.
“I was [surprised]. I didn’t see that coming. I know there are people who are like, ‘Oh yeah, I saw it coming,’ but I personally didn’t see it coming,” Marysol told us on a recent episode of Attention Puh Lease! podcast. “I’ve always seen [Lisa and Lenny] As people who had fun together, they would party together – they’d always gone out to dinner with young, attractive people. They had a fun lifestyle. I didn’t think there would be any reason for him to get lost. Everything was right there, you know? They had a pretty cool lifestyle. I thought it would work for her, so I was kind of shocked that he wanted to take off and actually had a better half.”
And Alexia feels the same way. During her own interview on the podcast, she told us, “Lisa has her story [this season] and it’s hard to see because we love them. And when you love your friends and you see them going through things like that — even though it’s normal — it’s tough.” She said she was “surprised by the whole thing and the fact that [Lenny] even wanted a divorce. Divorce is a big word, it’s a big thing, and when you say divorce, it’s not like there’s no going back, because there is, but I just couldn’t believe it. I was kind of in disbelief and really just disappointed how that just happened overnight.”
As fans saw in the first four episodes of season five, Lisa’s now-estranged husband, Lenny, hinted that he may have been cheating on her. During a hot mic moment in the fourth episode, Lenny tells his pal that he’s not having sex with Lisa anymore because then he’d be “cheating on whoever I really care about.” Obviously, we already know that Lisa and Lenny are splitting, but that doesn’t make it any easier to watch the marriage fall.
“[Lenny] couldn’t even hide it [on the show]. They have shots where you can’t lie to the camera. And that’s how he really felt — like everything about her irritated him and he couldn’t even hide it,” Alexia told us. Lenny’s disdain for Lisa was so evident in the opening episodes of season five that it’s hard not to feel sorry for her.
“Lisa is always very funny and positive and upbeat so she has this happy exterior but I’m sure she’s hurt. It is difficult. It will take some time to process all of this. It’s quite shocking,” Marysol continued, while Alexia added, “Lisa is fine and I think she’s finally accepted it. She’s strong enough and mature enough to handle this and she’ll be fine. The most important thing is her kids, and she’s just finding it out. But it gets dirty. It’s getting ugly. We all know that, and when it comes to money, it gets worse.”
Lenny officially filed for divorce from Lisa on May 20, 2022 after 12 years of marriage. According to Lenny, he cited “irreconcilable differences” in the file page six, saying that their “marriage is irretrievably broken and there is currently no hope of a meaningful reconciliation.” Currently they are fight in court over finances, which is why Alexia said their breakup will “get worse” as it plays out on the show.
