Prince Harry finally opens up about what happened at Sandringham House when he met him Queen Elizabeth the second, Prince Charles (now King Charles III), and Prince William on January 13, 2020 to discuss his and Meghan Markles future with the royal family. In the fifth episode of Harry & MeganPrince Harry revealed Meghan was supposed to attend the meeting but it never materialized until she returned to Canada to reunite with the baby Archie.

“I knew they planned it so that you weren’t in the room,” Prince Harry says to Meghan. He goes on to say that he went into the meeting with “the same proposal that we had already made public. But when I got there I was given 5 options. One being, all in, no change. Five creatures, all off. I chose option three in the meeting. Half in, half out. Have our own jobs but also work in support of the Queen. It became clear very quickly that the goal was not up for discussion or debate. It was scary that my brother was yelling and yelling at me and my dad was saying things that just weren’t true and my grandmother was, you know, sitting still and taking it all in.”

Prince Harry admits that from the Queen’s point of view, “there are ways of doing things and her ultimate kind of mission, goal/responsibility is the institution.” He noted that the meeting at Sandringham “ended without a concrete plan of action went”.

He adds, “I think from her perspective, it was more about us and maybe the issues we were having than it was about her partner, the media and herself and this relationship that was causing us so much pain. They saw what they wanted to see.”

Prince Harry admits that the “sadest part” of the whole situation was “this wedge that’s created between me and my brother that he’s now siding with the institution. Part of it, I see. I understand right? That is his legacy.”

On the same day as the meeting, Prince Harry points out that a story was published that said part of the reason he and Meghan left was because “William had bullied us”. When Prince Harry got into the car after the meeting, he was told about a Joint Statement published by him and Prince William crushing this story. Prince Harry was unaware of the statement.

“I could not believe it. No had asked me. No one had asked my permission to put my name under such a statement,” Prince Harry said in the docuseries.

Prince Harry reveals he called Meghan afterwards and she started crying because “they happily lied within 4 hours to protect my brother and yet for 3 years they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.” to protect.” That was the turning point for Prince Harry and Meghan.

In the fourth episode, Prince Harry opens up on how he and Prince William had “an agreement” years ago that their communications office should not share stories about them and pit them against each other. “I’d much rather get destroyed in the press than get involved in this game or this trade. And to see my brother’s office copying exactly what we promised we both would never do, that was heartbreaking,” admits Prince Harry.

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals. They went on their “farewell tour” in March 2020. The couple then left the UK. They currently reside in California with their two children.
