Netflix gives us a glimpse into the personal lives of two of the world’s most famous people in the teaser Harry & Megan Documentary. The minute-long preview released this morning teases what appears to be an intimate portrait of ex-queens Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they share their own story on the streamer for the first time.
The trailer for Harry & Megan begins with the famous shot of the couple grinning at each other under an umbrella while somber piano music plays in the background and a voice asks, “Why did you want to make this documentary?”
As black and white photos of Harry and Meghan scroll across the screen, the shutters click over the faint piano and after a few seconds we hear Harry reply, “No one sees what happens behind closed doors,” before adding, ” I had to do everything to protect my family.”
Meghan also chimes in, wondering, “When the stakes are so high, does it make more sense to hear our story from us?” Her rhetorical question concludes the brief teaser, which lasts just one minute and 12 seconds.
Netflix hasn’t announced a premiere date for Harry & Megan yet, but promises that the documentary will be “coming soon”.
When it finally premieres on Netflix, it’s going to have a bit of a rocky road to get there. The streamer decided to push Harry & Megan‘s release date after an onslaught of criticism in the final season of The crownanother Netflix Original.
After hearing passionate objections to The crown Season 5 – which was blown up for its portrayal of the royals – Netflix decided to make a move Harry & Megan by 2023, having originally planned to publish the document in December.
“They’re upset with Netflix, and they blinked at first and decided to postpone the documentary,” a source said meeting in October, stating that company executives didn’t think debuting the documentary so soon after the drama series was a wise choice.
Does not matter when Harry & Megan Debuts, it’s sure to make waves as almost everything the pair touches seems to ignite a media firestorm. While little was known about the series until now, this morning Netflix finally shared some long-awaited information in a release that promises to show “the other side” of the couple’s “high-profile love story.”
Harry & Meghan, in which not only the royal couple, but also friends, family and historians can be seen, comes from director Liz Garbus.
