Good as hell! If anyone knows how to bring it when it comes to beauty — it’s Lizzo. The 33-year-old singer has served up everything from bold eyeshadow to colorful wigs since she stepped foot in the spotlight.

And, the star doesn’t need an awards show or event to have fun with hair and makeup — oh no. She is known for assembling her trusty glam squad and creating outrageous and over-the-top beauty looks just to have a little fun.

The talent behind her backyard beauty shoots? Hairstylist Shelby Swain and makeup artist Alexx Mayo. While vision boards, an on-the-go beauty store and many outfit changes are needed for the Instagram glam sessions, the shoots have actually been fairly spontaneous.

Back in February 2021, when Lizzo debuted an absolutely absurd yet totally amazing 9-foot long ponytail, Swain told Us Weekly: “In the pandemic, I have much more time to be creative and be free. Lizzo has always spoken to me about trying to step out and do more shoots to show off her hair. So finally I was like, ‘Hey, you wanna do a shoot at my house?’”

When Lizzo has a red carpet in the books though, Stylish has come to expect some seriously outrageous hair and makeup. A

At the 2019 Met Gala for example, the singer showed up in an over-the-top Marc Jacobs pink babydoll dress and feather coat, which she paired with a bubblegum pink wig — complete with perfectly styled edges — and a monochromatic makeup look.

She also stunned at the 2019 AMAs, rocking a one-shoulder Valentino minidress. She completed the look with a flipped out ponytail, bling-encrusted nails and a smoky orange eye. Oh, and who could forget her micro-sized handbag?!

While Lizzo most definitely knows how to bring her best to glam, she’s also the first to embrace her natural beauty and show her 10.4 million Instagram followers her face and body sans filters or photoshop.

In April 2021 the “Juice” singer partnered with Dove to work towards “transforming social media into a more positive and empowering place for the next generation.”

Lizzo’s first step towards fostering realistic beauty standards? Posting a filter-free (and completely nude!) photo to Instagram sans a stitch of makeup.

At the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, where she received the People’s Champion honor, Lizzo unveiled a vibrant red manicure that was brought to life by celebrity manicurist Eri Ishizu. The almond-shaped set was a modern take on the iconic French design as it featured tips using OPI’s Big Apple Red and Lincoln Park After Dark from the brand’s GelColor collection. The look also included gold accents and perfectly complemented her vibrant Alexander McQueen gown. 

The “About Damn Time” hitmaker arrived at the 2022 VMAs in August 2022, rocking a grunge glam look courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Alexx Mayo. In an Instagram post, the pro revealed that they used a blue Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner pencil to achieve her statement-making blue lip. 

“Somebody said I look like the Home Depot color sample — bye,” the “Truth Hurts” singer jokingly captioned a March 2022 Instagram video of her colorful look. 

Sun-kissed skin! The singer showed off her soft glam (and extremely glowy complexion) via Instagram. “Venus is retrograde and so is my hangover,” she captioned her January 2022 post. 

Keeping it real! The singer took to Instagram in November 2021 to give her followers a progress report on how her split is coming along. However, fans were more obsessed with the fact that she was showing off her natural hair texture. “The natural hair is BEAUTIFUL,” a user wrote, while another added, “That hair thoooo!!!!!”

To present Missy Elliott with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the “Truth Hurts” singer served up some seriously retro glam. With ringlet curls, side-swept bangs and a dress that mixed an edgy leather vest with floral-print puff sleeves, Lizzo’s look was nothing short of fabulous.

For Halloween in October 2021, the “Truth Hurts’ singer assembled a killer glam squad to transform her into Grogu, a.k.a. Baby Yoda, from Star Wars.

The “Good as Hell” singer looked absolutely stunning in a Thom Browne creation covered in floral appliqué. Hairstylist Shelby Swain used the same flowers from the dress in a beautiful updo, while makeup artist Alexx Mayo gave the star a smoky brown face beat. 

It’s the hair for Us! With some help from hairstylist Shelby Swain, the “Juice” singer rocked Bantu knots and a Gucci hair clip. “Aye remember that day I was the finest bitch in the universe no filter just bad bitchtune …. ?!?! face card on unlimited,” she captioned her September 2021 Instagram post.

Nothing but neon! Lizzo debuted a very green beauty look via Instagram Stories in July 2021, wearing a braided wig and shimmery shadow. To get her glam, makeup artist Alexx Mayo used Lottie London products including the Lottie x Laila Loves Neon Palette in Miami, Eco Glitter Stargazer, Glitter Fix Balm and the Stamp Liner Wing Edition.

Lizzo be eating! The singer brought major glam to dinner with friends, rocking a pink pixie haircut with a deep crimson lip.

Casting call! “Petition to play storm in the next X-men movie,” the “Juice” singer captioned her May 2021 Instagram post, rocking a silver wig, metallic eyeshadow and chrome nail polish.

“WELCOME TO TAURUS SEASON. To celebrate I wanna give y’all this unedited selfie … now I normally would fix my belly and smooth my skin but baby I wanted to you how I do it au natural,” she captioned the April 2021 Instagram post, announcing her partnership with the #DoveSelfEsteemProject. 

 

For a spontaneous Instagram photo shoot in February 2021, Lizzo rocked a 9-foot ponytail made up of 40 different extensions. 

Channelling Old Hollywood glamour, the “Good as Hell” singer wowed in voluminous waves and a classic smoky eye at the 2020 Grammys. She completed the vibe with an equally as gorgeous Versace gown. 

Looking like a snack! Wearing a Moschino chocolate bar-inspired dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Judith Leiber bag, Lizzo dominated the Brit Awards 2020 red carpet. Her glam was top-notch too, with a stacked ballerina bun, crimson lip and smoky eye. 

 

For the 2019 Met Gala, the singer showed up in an all-pink ensemble, from her pastel Marc Jacobs gown to her bright and bold hair and smoky shadow.
