People’s Choice Awards viewers were a little distracted Kathy Hilton, if Mariska Hargitay gave her acceptance speech for the 2022 Drama TV Star Award show on Tuesday December 6th. The reality star, 63, was seen standing behind the actress, 58, and reached into her purse for some makeup. While it was a little awkward, it was still hilarious.

Mariska received the award for her work on Law and Order: Special Victims Unitand the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills presented her with the award. When the actress gave her speech, Kathy was still directly behind her in the camera shot. She seemed to think she wasn’t being seen because she casually opened her purse and fumbled for her lipstick before taking it out and quickly applying it.

Viewers were a bit torn as Kathy touched up her on-screen makeup. Some people thought it was just an awkward and hilarious moment during the awards show. “You can’t make this stuff up,” one fan wrote. “There could be 100 people in the room and Kathy Hilton will pretend she’s the only one there,” another person tweeted with a laughing, crying emoji.

Still, some people up Twitter found it “rude” and inconsiderate. “How exceedingly rude, Kathy Hilton. I can’t believe I (and every other viewer) just saw you apply lipstick, dab it on and sigh in the middle of Mariska Hargitay’s People’s Choice Award acceptance speech. It doesn’t get any more self-centered. Shame on you,” one person wrote.
Mariska didn’t seem to have noticed Kathy behind her and she seemed very proud to receive the award. As she walked onto the stage, she hugged some of the cast, including Kathy. Despite the awkward moment, both women looked absolutely stunning. That RHOBH Star wore a light purple mini dress with a matching scarf, while Mariska wore a white blouse and gold skirt. Both women shared better looks at their amazing looks on their Instagram profiles.
While Mariskka won for the TV Drama Star award, she was also nominated for the Female TV Star of 2022 award but lost to it Ellen Pompeo. The ladies of RHOBH were also nominated for the Reality Show of 2022 award but lost The Kardashians. Both Garcelle Beauvis and Kyle Richards from the show were also nominated for Reality TV Star of 2022 but lost Khloe Kardashian.
